Nearly 50,000 Americans are diagnosed with an HPV-associated cancer every year. Cervical cancer is only one of six. An estimated 7,000 Americans die from HPV-attributable cancers. 7,000 people whose families and friends lose someone they love beyond measure.
Behind every number is a person, a family, and a life that matters. Many HPV-related cancers can be prevented, yet gaps in prevention, access and care remain.
Across Kentucky and the country, people are working to change that. ForEm is one small part of that much larger effort — here to learn, collaborate, and fight for what can change.

Grief will make you do things you hadn't considered before, like start a cancer nonprofit in memory of your best friend. That's how ForEm came to be. Emily often said she wouldn't wish this disease on her worst enemy — and Emily didn't have any enemies.
Everything we do is for Emily, but what we're building is for everyone who comes after her. We want fewer people diagnosed with HPV-related cancers, fewer families losing someone they love, and more people getting the chance to live long, happy lives. That's what we're forever fighting for.
Our first fundraising commitment is the Emily Depke Butterfly Memorial at Murray State University's Doran Arboretum. Before ForEm raises a single dollar for our broader advocacy work, we're going to build this permanent place to remember Emily and the life she lived.
From there, your support will help ForEm grow our work in HPV cancer prevention, education and advocacy — connecting people with trusted information, collaborating with those already leading this work, and helping where we can make a meaningful difference.
